Let’s Make Some Noise

“It is easier to imagine the end of the world than to imagine the end of capitalism.”
Fredric Jameson
Staying Right Here
The world is getting hotter, madder and faster. Climate change is the product of a broken system, a system that was designed to fail. We have every right to get furious at that. These days are not just days. It is exactly these days that our lives are changing.
Raise your voice. Sharpen your words. Call it protests, call it songs, call it poems. Don’t know your “place”. Don’t listen to those who say “You worry too much” or “You are going to change the world, are you?”
Don’t back off, this is your backyard. Stay where you are.
Designed To Fail
We are not dealing with broken ecosystems and unreliable weather patterns; we are dealing with a system—a system that convinced us so powerfully that this is our only option. We can choose not to believe that, even when its force is everywhere. The only force we should accept is the force of nature. Any force to contradict that is inherently designed to fail us.
Yes, we invented capitalism, but we can't invent another Earth.
Kingdoms Fall
Our submission to capitalism and climate change may seem inescapable. But as Ursula K. Le Guin said, so did the divine rights of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by humans. We will always be capable of turning profit into freedom.
Human Body Is Resistance
The human body is full of instruments of resistance. Look at your hands; they can write laws, equations, poetry. Look at your eyes; they can tell so much. They can judge and hold responsible. Look at your mouth; it can change minds, sing songs, act, react. Imagine the change that all of these forces can bring, and that’s just you.
We are full of resistance, even when we don’t see it in ourselves. So let’s make some noise, shall we?
